Construction
The Base of trailer was covered with galvanized sheet metal to keep critters out, Then 1/2 sheathing was laid down before the 2x6 floor joists were installed. R-30 insulation was laid in between before the 3/4-floor tongue and grove sheets were installed. The walls were constructed with 2x4 studs on 16-inch centers. 5/16 inch bolts and nuts were drilled and installed to the trailer frame, for added stability. Double 2x4 top plates were installed and the headers above the windows are 2x6. The walls are insulated with R-13 insulation. The Roof rafters are 2x6 on 24-inch centers with hurricane ties for a more secure construction. The R-30 insulation was also installed in ceiling.
Exterior Features
The trailer is 8 ft. x 26 feet and it holds up to 14,400 pounds. The siding is 3/4 inch wood siding, and all the trim is 1x3 or 1x4 cedar trim. The entire exterior was hand painted (not sprayed) and was primed with an oil base Sherwin William primer and Duration exterior paint. The trim is painted with Behr’s Ultra paint. The roof is Deep Red metal roofing. There is an additional storage closet that is located in back behind the bathroom sink overhang. We have a 6 x 8 foot steel frame pull out deck that slides under the house for travel. The decking is cedar and has been treated to be waterproof
Interior Features
The bathroom features a glass bowl sink and hand rubbed oil faucet, and Beautiful glass tile surrounds the sink area. The one-piece fiberglass shower is 32x32. The bathroom also features a 24-inch pocket door and has a flushable toilet that is also wired with a receptacle on the right corner so that if a compost toilet is installed the electric is there. There is a 19-gallon electric water heater. The 8 ft. x 11 ft. loft has a spacious 51 in headroom and it includes a 2 ft. x 8 ft. closet making the loft 8 x 13. The flooring on the first floor is Mohawks Dove Gray tongue and groove flooring. The loft is 4x4 cedar beams, pine ceiling and cedar trim. The ceilings are tongue and grove knotty pine with 2 coats of satin polyurethane. The trim throughout this home is Cedar and had 2 coats polyurethane.
